Why television?

Did you know the average person in the world watches 22.1 hours of tv per week? Yes, I know you are probably thinking that is a lot of time, but in the U.S, the average amount of time is 28 hours per week. What exactly is a television? A television is a telecommunication for transmitting and receiving images. The word television is a latin word meaning "far sight".When the first televisions came out, they were very small and all black and white. Television was not invented by a single inventor, many people contributed. It took many years to start the electric communication, and have the image appear on the screen. The first generation of TV sets were not entirely electronic. The screen had a small motor with a spinning disc and a motor and a neon lamp. They worked together to give a small blurry picture which was about the size of half a business card. This time period before 1935 is called the "Mechanical Television Era". Between 1935 and 1941, the televisions were perfected and several countries began to broadcast TV's in public. However, during the World War II, TV's were held back for a little while.

The time period after the World War II was when televisions started to become popular, and many people started to buy them. During the war, people saved their money which left them with money to spend after the war ended. Several people were eager to buy things such as houses and cars, and TV's were also popular too. During the years 1950 to 1959, TV's became more advanced, and then more people started to buy them. Also, color and remote controls were added to TV's. In our world today, TV's have changed a lot. They started out showing all black and white images, and they weren't as clear as they are today. TV's come in different sizes and shapes, and flat screens were also invented. Instead of having a rounded screen, and being thick and big in size, TV's are now lighter and thinner then they used to be. Do you think that TV's have become too high tech in our world today?
